The ICF eligibility requirements can be found here. The CAT Academy is ready to offer 60 hours of the required coaching education to prepare for your next steps, beginning with this course: The Core Fundamentals of Coaching, which offers mentoring practicum, totaling 78 hours.
The Core Fundamentals of Coaching
This course is foundational to understanding what distinguishes coaching skills from other essential interpersonal abilities.
The Core Fundamentals is also available for managers, leaders and aspiring leaders who want to fully understand how to coach their employees, applying best practices. If you don’t want to pursue coaching as a profession yet want and need to learn The Coach Approach to communication and interpersonal effectiveness, this program is also for you.
For those seeking or exploring coaching as a profession, the main distinctions The Coach Approach Training Academy are the three (possibly four) distinct tracks:
Estrangement coaching (track one) the Therapy Transition (track two) or Launching a coaching business (track three).
All classes are led by highly qualified faculty and mentors and provide rigorous curriculum.
A fourth track is ready to go (based on interest) in Executive Coaching. This track can also occur 1:1 for more intensive coaching conversations, like an independent study.
Estrangement is currently an epidemic in several countries. The recent research of Dr. Joshua Coleman estimates approximately one-in-four families are facing some kind of familial discord, parental alienation and other painful forms of estrangement. Decades ago, Dr. Pauline Boss researched ambiguous loss, which is a hallmark of the many unresolved elements of estrangement, similar to the emotional torture of times of war, abduction or similar forms of disappearances (when someone is missing from your life and you do not know if a person is dead or alive). If someone is fortunate enough to be unfamiliar with the emotions associated with estrangement, they can underestimate the toll this agonizing experience can take on people, at the receiving end of someone they love going “no contact,” (with or without an explanation). Dr. Dee Dee Mann has endured over a decade of several forms of estrangement and has written several original coaching methods that will be taught in this track.
Therapy Transition
I don’t know about you, but I was raised that selling a product or service is
not as noble a profession as other options available to me. Though I am
guessing a high percentage of people, like me, buy products and enjoy
services by small businesses and entrepreneurs on a regular basis, as an
inexperienced new business owner, I didn’t know the first thing about how
best to promote myself (and I don’t just mean on social media), present
myself professionally or speak effectively without sounding “salesy” or
“fake” or “performative.” I knew it was best to not sound arrogant or pushy
but striking the balance to attract clients was a challenge for a long time.
This class offers practical tips and powerful techniques to help you take
steps to launch your coaching business, so after graduation, or as you are
learning about coaching, you can feel equipped and have answers for two
of the internal questions in your head: “Now what?” and “Where do I
start?” If you are proud of what you do and are informed about coaching
best practices, sharing your skills with others will be easier than you could
imagine once you’ve mastered essential skills! This is a very story-based,
mentor-forward program. As you will know, ICF only requires 60 hours of
core competency learning of the 78 possible hours, so this is a track
designed for the practical aspects of what comes next after you become a
coach.
